Materials:

I used #6 knitting needles and a small amount of knit worsted weight yarn (Simply Soft by Caron Yarns)

Instructions:

Cast on 5 sts; leave a long end to sew head together.

Row 1: k5
Row 2: k1, yo, rep, end k1 - 9 sts
Row 3: k
Row 4: k1, yo, rep, end k1 - 17 sts
Row 5: k
Row 6: k1, yo, rep, end k1 - 33 sts

BO in purl. With beginning thread weave inside seam of head together.

Pick up 5 sts along bottom edge of head to start skirt.

Skirt:

Attach yarn and k5 sts, then p5 sts.
Row 1: k1, yo, rep to end, end yo, k1
Row 2: p

Repeat rows 1 and 2. Keep center sts in k (no yo's) until you have 25 sts or 3½" or desired length.
BO in purl.

Variation:

If you use the k1, yo rep across the row, it gives the angel more of a flared skirt.

Variation with flared skirt.

Wings/Arms:

From along side of top of skirt (under head) pick up 3 sts.
Row 1: k
Row 2: p
Row 3: k1, yo, rep to end

Rep rows 2 and 3 until you have 17 sts. BO in purl.
Do the same for the other side.

Add hanger.

To add hair you have to know how to crochet. What can be done is to attach the yarn at the neck edge and work a sc and ch1 in each st around the head.

Weave all loose ends in.

This angel can also be done using a size 4 needle and baby/sport weight yarn. It also can be done using a size 1 needle and crochet thread. These sizes will make the angel come out smaller though.
