Materials:

#3 needles
Fingering yarn
Cable needle

Instructions:

Co 60 stitches.
Row 1: *P2, K4, P2*; repeat between *'s to end.
Row 2: *K2, P4,
K2* to end.

Continue these two rows for 1½".

Pattern Stitch
Right Side (r.s. row): * P2, Slip 2 to cable needle (in back), K2, K2 on cable needle, P2*; repeat between *'s to end.
Wrong Side (w.s row): *K2, P4,
K2*; repeat to end.

Repeat rows *1, then 2, then r.s cable row, then w.s row, then row 1, then row 2* 3 times.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 again.
Right side: *P2, K2 Tog,
K2, P2, K2 Tog, K2 * repeat across row between *'s.
Wrong side: *P3, K2 Tog, P3, K2 Tog *, repeat across, ending P3, K2-41 stitches.
Right side: P2, K2 Tog, *K1, P1, K2 Tog* repeat across ending P2, K2.
Work 4 rows of (K1, P1) ribbing, bind off in ribbing.
Leave tail to stitch up back seam.
Press.

I hope this will be clear enough and that I haven't made any errors. It's my first original pattern that I actually wrote down (I usually do it in my head, but can't remember how to recreate it!).
