Down The Country Road I Stroll
![]()
Down the country road I
stroll
Wondering where the time went
When did I get so old
It was just yesterday I ran down this road
With my baby girl in toll
I remember that Oak Tree it provided shade for our picnics in the spring
Now its limbs are broke and twisted leaning to the side like its life is
listless
Down the country road I stroll
To the clearing Where God filled my soul
On my knees I prayed for God to take the pain away
Feeling his touch from the breeze on my cheek
I knew he was with me in everything I seek
Down the country road I stroll
Listening to the birds sing there welcoming of Joy
Chasing the memories in my head
Of smiles tears and fears and of my heart and where it lead
Down this country road I stroll
Kicking a dirt clog with my toe
Watching it roll down the road
Just like life rolling always on a go
Down this country road I stroll
Thinking all in all life was good to me
I have given and taken
Loved and lost
I have grew up right before my eyes
I have learned my lessons well
But that don’t make me wise
I don’t know how many years I have left
When my time comes I will know I was blessed
I will take Gods Hand and I will know
Down this country road we will stroll
