| Start with a 1 1/2" square block of wood. Add a head, we used a 1 1/4" wooden ball, and drilled mating 1/4" holes in the ball and block to join them with a piece of dowel. Next, drill 3/8" holes in the front and side for the arms and legs. The picture here does not show the arm holes, but they are one hole going through the sides of the upper part of the body. | |
Paint the face as desired. The arms are sewn from a material of your choice.
They are one tube about 8" long. Turn right-side-out, then put through the upper
holes before stuffing. The legs are a tube sewn from a fine lace, about 10"
long. Put the legs through the leg holes as shown so they are even length in
front. The legs get stuffed with your favorite potpourri before sewing up the
ends and decorating with a bow. We used a piece of lace around the neck of our
doll shown. Add hair to your doll and it is finished.
